Which snowboard boots are right for me?
It's hard to decide online which snowboard boots will fit you. In our showroom we are always ready to help you find the right snowboard boots.
First of all, there are differences between men's snowboard shoes and women's snowboard shoes.
Then there are the different types of closures. Think of the traditional lace closure, the increasingly popular snowboard shoe with BOA closure (the dial), speed lace's or a combination of these different closures.
Shoes with a BOA closure
The single boa closure is super fast and easy to adjust. Even in the middle of the piste. With a simple twist it tightens quickly and you open your snowboard boots easily by pulling off the BOA button. Want to buy new snowboard boots?
Shoes with laces
Snowboard boots with l acing are the most traditional snowboard boots. Ever since snowboard boots have been around, laces have been a part of them. The advantage of laces is that you can very accurately determine the tightness of your shoes. Also, laces are relatively easy and inexpensive to replace when they wear out.
Shoes with speedlace closure
The speedlace closure is actually nothing more than a cord that you pull like a lace and then hook behind a special closure. It is a convenient way to close your entire shoe in one go. Often, these laces can be tightened separately for each area.
Combination closures on your snowboard boots
Hybrid buckles actually combine several buckles into one complete closure system. Think of 2 Boa's for different zones on the snowboard boot, a combination of laces and a BOA closure like the one on the boot. VANS. There are also many combinations with a SPeedlace and BOA.
Flex in your snowboard boots
Roughly speaking, snowboard boots can be divided into three categories. Snowboard boots with a low flex, which are soft and forgiving snowboard boots. There are also snowboard boots with a medium flex and stiff snowboard boots with a high flex. The last type of boots is often loved by freeriders, carvers or people who want a lot of contact with their board. You can imagine that a stiff boot with a flex 7 or higher feels very direct and hard. So every move you make is transferred directly to your snowboard. This is perfect if you are already advanced.
If you are a beginner or just looking for comfort, choose a softer boot with a lower flex. This way, not every wrong move is immediately transferred to your snowboard. A softer shoe can also be very useful if you hang out in the park a lot and have to land often. This is just less comfortable with a hard shoe.
Which size snowboard shoes?
In our experience, many snowboarders have too big snowboard shoes. Too big shoes look very nice in the store, but when you go boarding, this quickly causes problems. We always start with measuring your feet. After all, measuring is knowing. Once you try on a snowboard boot, your first impression will be that it is too small. This is because you MUST feel the front as soon as you put the shoe on. Kick the ground with your heel so that your heel slides all the way into the back of the shoe. Close the shoe and stand in the same position as you stand on a snowboard. You'll notice right away that your toe is free from the front. We have written an extensive article about this: how to fit snowboard boots.
How tight should snowboard boots be?
Do you ever suffer from cold toes or tingling feet while snowboarding? Often, snowboard boots are too tight. This is caused by shoes that are too big. During snowboarding, you want your feet to stay fixed in your shoes and not slide around. This affects your steering. If your boots are too big, you tend to close them tighter so you don't slide. This changes the fit of the shoe, creating pressure points that impede circulation.
A famous shoe brand
Did you know that VANS was one of the first brands to make snowboard boots? The boots from VANS are full of technical features that make them very popular. For example, there is 'Popcush' in the heels of the sole. This provides extra cushioning after a hard landing. In addition, all VANS snowboard boots have a thermal inner lining that retains heat. This ensures that your toes stay nice and warm. Also, VANS is very good at making closures. The top models like the VANS Infuse and the VANS Invado have a hybrid closure. This means that the boost models feature a BOA closure with traditional laces. This combination allows you to close the boots perfectly.
Burton Snowboard boot
If you have been snowboarding for a while, you obviously know the brand Burton. Besides good snowboards and bindings, the American brand makes very good snowboard boots. The Burton Ruler and the BurtonPhoto BOA have been extremely popular. Especially loved are the fit and the way the boots fit into their Burton bindings.
ThirtyTwo snowboard boots
Thirtwo is an American brand that focuses entirely on developing snowboard boots. What ThirtyTwo is known and praised for is the Lon Lasting Fit. Don't expect this brand's boots to fit perfectly right away. Come to our shop and let the ThirtyTwo boots warm to your feet. Do you prefer to order boots online? No problem. You will have the same effect after one or two days of good boarding.
If you regularly watch snowboard movies, these snowboard boots will appear regularly. Jeremy Jones and Scott Stevens, for example, ride on ThirtyTho boots. The models you often see are ThirtyTwo Lashed and TM-2.
Nidecker snowboard boots
A while back Nidecker took over the snowboard brand Flow. The names stayed the same, like the Nidecker Tracer and the Helios. Nidecker boots fit well in every snowboard binding. The most perfect match with Flow bindings are boots from Nidecker. The shape of the snowboard boot fits exactly with the binding from Flow.
